I want words for how the series fails as a love story but I don’t have them
For starters they don’t have a common goal
They don’t grow together
They bring out the worst in each other/they don’t push each other to be better
The crew went out of their way to disprove through WOG that anything indicative of mutual attraction was phooey
Their friendship barely made it out in tatters after the simple “obstacle” of Ladybug getting a promotion at work
Their ultimate canonization is abrupt, unfounded, and unconvincing
The characters are infinitely more interesting as individuals (not necessarily a bad thing) than they are as a dynamic (here lies the problem)
3/4 of the square are severely underdeveloped
Like are they actually friends when they’re not super?
The way they choose to push the romantic aspect is more annoying than anything

I haven’t kept track of each instance but there were multiple times that guy took to twitter to tell people they were misinterpreting scenes that could be read as romantic
They went out of their way in Weredad to disprove there was any attraction between Chat & Marinette, along with that guy pretty much admitting that the Mari///chat corner of the square Can Not happen (so any actual romantic development that could’ve happened with them was dead in the water):
Cause the idea that Adrichat and/or Maribug could like both sides of the other’s identity at the same time is ridiculous apparently…
